These cards are a type of index to files in AA8 - give name and sex of patient, while some have more details such as Clinic No, date of birth, age first examined, name of referral person or agency. Some cards do not have corresponding files in AA8 and there are some files in AA8 which do not have cards in this series. A card with a clinic number below c.5000 should have a file in the first alphabetical sequence of AA8. A number above c.5000 should be in the second alphabetical run of AA8. These cards also index AA4.
