Register of foreign companies compiled retrospectively c.1940 and covers registration from 1897 to 1949 under the Foreign Companies Act 1895 and the 1920 Companies Act. The numbering begins at one again under the 1920 legislation and the gaps in the numbers indicate that the agency had one numbering system for foreign and Tasmanian companies from this date.

The register contains the name and number of the company, its date of registration and a remarks column which notes when the company ceased to exist
