Where the stated access is B75 (75 year closure but at the discretion of the State Archivist or delegate), the State Archivist has exercised his discretion by referring ALL requests for access in the closed 75 year period, back to the Department of Education. Items in this series have varying access categories applied. This is because the Department of Education has reconsidered its position on access, as information recorded in admission registers has changed over the years and in some instances may include information that might impact on individuals if unreasonably disclosed. The Archives Act 1983 does not allow for any retrospective increase of access restrictions.
Series notes:
Records date of admission, name, religion, date of birth, name and occupation of parent/guardian, address, last school attended, annual details of progress and attendance, date and reason for leaving school. Names of teachers are often listed in the front of the register.
