Series notes:
These charts were kept in the Lands Department by the Central Plan Office which was part of the Surveyor General's Office. Grant Charts (Land District Charts or County Charts) are the master print/lithograph set of working plans. They cover all granted land outside of the Towns. They are divided by Land Districts and Parishes.
Records also include maps which document the alienation of Crown Land in areas not covered/charted by the Grant Charts.
As working plans, annotations and other changes continued to be added over their life time. The majority of plans were superseded mid-1980s to mid-1990s.
These records are part of the holdings of the Tasmanian Archives
