Series notes:
Printed returns containing information supplied by the police of the local district which includes the convict's name, ship, place and date of trial, and magistrate's sentence. Information supplied by the Convict Department includes the original sentence, date, when eligible for a ticket-of-leave, total period under punishment, and any further remarks. Returns are from Ross, the Prisoners' Barracks, the Male Convict Establishment, Launceston and the Brown's River Hiring Depot.
