Series notes:
These are examples of passes issued to Probation Passholders proceeding to employers' houses, the requisite contracts having been signed; on the arrival, the master was to deliver the pass to the Chief Constable of the District. The butt repeats the essential details of the form.

There are also partly-used books of forms, the main part of which was issued to the convict as his permission to pass to such-and-such a place and return by such-and-such a date; it had to be presented to the constable of the district who would register the fact and sign the pass; and returned to the police office on his return. On the back there is provision for a physical description of the holder, and the butts of the forms summarize the details on the face of them.
