Diaries of Mr Collis, the mailman on Flinders Island, 1905 - 1925, contains entries relating mainly to small farming activities - including trapping, skinning, snaring, fencing, shearing, wood-collecting, hay-making, fishing, running sheep and cows, planting, harvesting, gardening, and weather conditions (including fires). Also mentions 'visiting the mines', the arrival of various vessels including the Linda, the Dauntless, the Dawn, the Adelaide, and the Collibor, some entries relating to local residents, delivering the mail and entries mentioning 'working at the wireless' in the 1924 - 1925 period. His wife's name appears to have been Nellie and his two children Hannah Freda and Alfred John. They were resident at Sawyer's Bay, Flinder's Island in 1908.
