Series notes:
Henry R. Heyburn (1920 - 1991) was a prominent attorney and civic leader in Louisville, Kentucky who had a long interest in the Falkland Islands and dependent territories in the Antarctic, which began with his passion for philately. He travelled to the Falkland Islands and researched the lives of its early settlers and became particularly interested in the career of William Lamond Allardyce (1861 - 1930) governor of the islands from 1904 to 1915 and a pioneer conservationist. Heyburn's collection of papers is in the Archives of the University of Louisville, Kentucky. He conducted a long correspondence with Allardyce's daughter Viti (Mrs Mabutt) leading to the publication of his article on Allardyce in the publication of the Scott Polar Research Institute 'Polar Record' January, 1980.

These records are part of the holdings of the Tasmanian Archives
