Series notes:
The Post Graduate Committee in Medicine was established as a subcommittee of the Faculty of Medicine on 24th June 1966.

Its function was to conduct activities orientated towards education outside the hospital system. At the time of its formation its membership comprised the Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, two University Councillors, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, two Branch members of the AMA, a representative from the Department of Health and other representatives from various professional and hospital bodies.

The Committee unanimously adopted the formation of the Post Graduate Medical Institute of Tasmania on 16th July 1991 and subsequently became a subcommittee of the Institute.

Subcommittees of the Institute included an Accreditation Committee with representation from the Medical Board of Tasmania and the Post Graduate Committee in Medicine. However, the Committee continued to orientate its activities primarily towards education outside the hospital system.

These records are part of the holdings of the Tasmanian Archives
