How to Use:
Copies may be made for private research/study. Copyright is in place until 31/12/2056 for all photographs created after 1/1/1955. For photographs created before 1/1/1955 copyright has expired. LIn line with the deposit agreement, Libraries Tasmania can authorise copies for publication, preservation, research and promotion. Use with acknowledgement, "Jack Thwaites Collection". Non-Tasmanian negatives have not been digitised.
Series notes:
Photographs taken by Jack Thwaites, largely in Tasmania. The images include bushwalking trips, wilderness scenery, flora and fauna, coastal scenery and historic buildings in Tasmania.
There are a few negatives that are slightly blurred but they have, nevertheless, been retained in the series for the information that can be gleaned from them.

System of Arrangement:
Roughly chronological.The negatives in Consignment 1 are stored in albums along with some copies of the originals. Descriptions for each image were written onto envelopes by Jack Thwaites. The envelopes were not retained. Negatives in Consignment 2 are in the envelopes used by Jack Thwaites, on which he has typed a description of the negatives. The wording of captions and abbreviations reflect the time period in which the images were taken and have been largely reproduced in the item listing. A large number of negatives in this consignment relate to a trip to the Northern Territory. Some frequent abbreviations used by Thwaites include JBT - Jack Barras Thwaites and HWC - Hobart Walking Club.
