Series notes:
This series consists of Staff equipment and associated forms and tickets used to operate the Train Staff and Ticket System used in Tasmania to regulate the operations of trains on single lines. The system was used to increase the efficiency of the rail system and safeguard against the possibility of trains travelling in opposite directions being within a particular Section of the line.
P2076/2 consignment consisted of the staff boxes and staffs. Coloured boxes were used on the various main and branch lines with the exception of the Main or South Line, which had a different style of box, all of which were painted black. The boxes and staffs were returned to the Invermay Railway site in 2000 and given into the care of the Queen Victoria Museum as part of Collection Review.
These records are part of the holdings of the Tasmanian Archives
