Series notes:
This series consists of correspondence files of the Mechanical Engineering Branch. It includes many Civil Engineering files from the previous correspondence file series, period c.1968 to 1981, when the branch was combined with the Civil Engineering Branch as the Chief Engineer's Office.
There are also other estrays in this series including some files with either alpha prefixes or suffixes. With the move of the Branch to the Hobbler's Bridge complex at Newstead, the annual single number correspondence filing system operating there was adopted.
