This series consists of a card index of locomotive and wagon derailments in the State of Tasmania. It appears to be primarily intended to be a geographical index. Each derailment is recorded on a separate card with the first entry always being a place, or distance from the beginning of a particular line.

There are then entries for the date, type and serial number of loco or rolling stock derailed, a single number (allocated sequentially for each derailment in Tasmania and recurring annually), the cause of the derailment and Branch or person found to be responsible for the derailment.

These records are part of the holdings of the Tasmanian Archives
