Series notes:
Information in the registers includes date, previous file number, file number, particulars fo the letter and under the heading letter are abbreviations such as S.O. found entered beside many entries relating to employment. Letter C for entries relating to Conara, and B for entries relating to Blythe. Other abbreviations include R/E, AMF, R/B etc. At the begining of each letter of the alphabet there is a subject listing . Some subjects such as Employment appear in all sections of the registers. However that does not mean that all employees will be entered under employment in the section of the alphabet for their surname - there are entries for clerks, carpenters and porters for example

These records are part of the holdings of the Tasmanian Archives
System of Arrangement:
Annual single number system - however there is some evidence of the same number being used for different files - eg a reference to conversion of locos to oil in an index held at NAA gives file no 46/680 in this series of correspondence this number relates to an employment file.
